Peter Brooks BSc (Hons) MA MCIEEM CEnv
Managing Director
Over 20 years' experience as an environmental professional with particular strengths in botany and habitats. Starting his career as Research Fellow in the Botany Department of the Natural History Museum London, Peter then went on to qualify as a Landscape Architect, working as a restoration ecologist for RMC Aggregates. He set up Brooks Ecological in 2005 after establishing the Ecology Department at RPS Consultants where he worked and helped build the team for five years.
Rob Weston BSc (Hons) MSc MCIEEM
Director of Ecology
Through a lifelong interest in vegetation and habitats Rob has worked in Ecology and Conservation for over 20 years and has dedicated himself to consultancy for the last 12. Working throughout all of the main ecology disciplines Rob is also a Registered Consultant under the Bats Mitigation Class License. He has advised and represented our clients at a high level and has appeared many times as an expert witness at Planning Inquiries.
Micah Duckworth BA (Hons) MSc
Biodiversity Manager
Micah joined the Brooks team in September 2017 as Biodiversity Manager, working primarily on habitat and invasive species management and acting as our principal biosecurity officer. Prior to Brooks he worked for more than 15 years lecturing in further and higher education, most recently as a Higher education lecturer in Ecology and Conservation at Askham Bryan College in York. Micah has a long-standing interest in environmental and sustainability issues having had roles as Trustee and Director for Bradford Environmental Action Trust (former Chair) and The British Permaculture Association (former Treasurer).
Victoria Black FdSc Arb
Principal Arboricultural Consultant and Head of Arboriculture
Victoria joined the Brooks team in May 2016 as a Principal Arboricultural Consultant, the head of Brooks Arboricultural department. Prior to joining Brooks Victoria had worked within the Arboricultural industry for over 20 years. Victoria has worked on numerous high-profile projects in the public and private sector, including clients such as the Office for Deputy Prime Minister, Yorkshire Water, Major house-builders and numerous Local Authorities.
Tamsin Harrison BA (Hons)
Principal Landscape Architect
Tamsin studied Landscape Design with Ecology at Sheffield University. She started her working life as a landscape architect for Mott MacDonald civil and structural engineering company, with whom she was seconded briefly to Connell Wagner in Brisbane, Australia. She spent 6 years working for Durham County Council as an urban designer providing design services, team management, service management and advising on conservation and planning issues from the perspective of the local planning authority. Following this she set up her own landscape architecture business providing design and advisory services on housing, commercial and industrial sites with a specialism in ecologically sensitive and sustainable design.
Sam Kitching BSc (Hons)
Principal Ecologist
Sam started his career as an Environmental Geologist. He brought valuable knowledge from this industry to Brooks and through his lifelong interest in nature rapidly re-skilled. With an important role to play in team management, Sam is now one of our most knowledgeable ecologists with invaluable experience in dealing with protected species licensing and mitigation.
Josh Birchall BSc (Hons)
Senior Ecologist
Josh has a degree in Ecology and Environmental Biology. He started work at Brooks as a seasonal survey assistant in 2014 and was one of our annual student intake who assist with large bat surveys and pairing up on amphibian and reptile surveys. He rapidly proved himself to be highly capable in the field having good plant ID and faunal tracking skills.
David Lovett MBiolSci (Hons) ACIEEM
Ecologist
David has over 7 years experience working as an ecologist, after having graduated with a degree in Zoology from the University of Sheffield.
He has worked at both multi-disciplinary consultancies dealing with clients such as Highways England and Southern Water and smaller consultancies, giving advice to individuals with ecological issues.
Whilst David has experience of undertaking work relating to a range of protected species, his particular area of expertise is birds and he has led survey work relating to this group across the United Kingdom. He holds a great crested newt licence with Natural England.
Joanna Cornfield BA(Hons) MSc MCIEEM
Office Manager
We greatly benefit from having an office manager who is a former ecologist and who understands the demands that this profession has on its staff and working environment. Joanna ensures all staff are supported and provided with the correct PPE, sourcing the latest kit and equipment for fieldwork and analysis.
Victoria Baker BSc (Hons) MSc ACIEEM
Ecologist
Vickie has worked with us since completing her Masters degree in Biodiversity and Conservation at Leeds University. She uses her skills of organisation and decision making to full effect on complex projects such as large scale regeneration and refurbishment schemes for social housing clients.
